Therapy That Meets You Where You Are: Big Waves, Small Moments
There are moments in life that feel like a giant wave, loud and overwhelming, like you might lose your footing. And then there are the quieter ones, a heavy silence that lingers or a sense that something’s off, even when nothing dramatic has happened. Whether your world feels like it’s crashing or whispering, one truth remains: you deserve to be met just as you are, right where you are. In all your bigness and quietness – the intense feelings, subtle shifts, and the
parts still finding their way – you deserve a space that truly sees and holds you.
That’s where The bigSmall Therapy began. As co-founders, and trauma therapists, we’ve spent the last couple of years walking alongside clients navigating complex emotional terrains, stories of grief and love, pain and resilience, identity, disconnection, and the search for belonging. And time and again, we’ve returned to this. Therapy isn’t just about the big breakthroughs; it’s also about the small, often quiet moments that can shift everything – a pause, a breath or the subtle way your body relaxes when someone truly understands.
At the heart of our work is this belief – that even your smallest moments matter, and your biggest waves can be held with care. Because healing isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it’s the quietest thing in the room.
We understand that mental health doesn’t exist in isolation but is intertwined with the histories we inherit, the identities we carry, and the systems we navigate everyday. Family, culture, caste, gender, capitalism, and institutions, the government or the justice system, can all reinforce or neglect trauma, deeply impacting your sense of self and safety. Whether you’re queer, trans, neurodivergent, disabled, caste-marginalized or a survivor of violence,
your pain is not just personal; it’s collective.
That’s why our approach is trauma-informed, intersectional, relational, and non-pathologizing. We don’t just see you, we see the world that has shaped you. We’re here to honour the full context of your experience, the big and the small, and to stay with you through it all, gently and with care.
We offer therapy at your pace, no pressure, no rushing into what isn’t ready to unfold. We’re not here to shrink your story into a label or a diagnosis. We get curious. Instead of asking, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ We ask, What happened to you?, What helped you survive? and What still needs space to breathe? Our work is rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. We believe that every part of you, even the ones you think are ‘too much’ or ‘not enough’, has a story, a purpose, and a reason for being. Together, we’ll learn to listen to them with compassion.
What truly defines the space we’ve created isn’t the tools or the setup; it’s the therapeutic relationship. Healing happens in connection. We create a room where we embrace grief, rage, softness, laughter, celebration, growth, and transformation. Therapy with us is professional, but also deeply human. We meet you as equals, one holding space, the other being seen. We walk with you, not above you.
We understand how lonely it can be to carry complex stories or identities that aren’t always affirmed. So here’s what we want you to know; you don’t have to do this alone. You don’t have to shrink your experiences or justify your need for support.
This space was created with you in mind.
At The bigSmall Therapy, that’s what we offer: a small, safe space to hold your biggest feelings. A place where your story matters. Where you don’t have to do it alone.
So whether you’re riding big waves, noticing small shifts, or simply needing a place to pause, we see you. We’re here. And we’ll walk with you, through every wave!
